Charles Henderson Animal Rescue: MY THERAPY DOG MONSOOR DIED TODAY

Charles Henderson Animal Rescue: MY THERAPY DOG MONSOOR DIED TODAY:

MY THERAPY DOG MONSOOR DIED TODAY

It is with immense grief and overwhelming sadness as tears run uncontrollably down my face that I am writing to announce the passing just now at 1904 hours on Sunday, April 21 of Monsoor, my amazing and very special dog, a Cane Corso/Italia...n Mastiff. I named Monsoor after Navy SEAL who was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for sacrificing his life to save his fellow SEAL team brothers' lives in Iraq by jumping on top of a live grenade.

Monsoor was rescued from being put to sleep 7 years ago in October, 2006. He was very badly beaten and cruelly & inhumanely abused. When I first took him in, he attacked me 4-5 times pretty bad in the first few weeks after I adopted him but we quickly put that behind us as Monsoor learned that he could trust me and that all I was ever gonna do was love him to death.

Monsoor was trained up and became a certified therapy dog with DELTA Society, now Pet Partners and moved on to become a gentle giant at 150 lbs. He turned into an angel. I never saw the aggressive side of Monsoor again and he loved being a therapy dog and being a big mush. He was a big baby and a teddy bear who loved to cuddle. Monsoor & I would go visit kids in schools, patients in the hospital. homeless people at homeless shelters, the Hurricane Sandy survivors that were displaced and living at the Armory in Park Slope as well as visiting with the veterans at the VA Hospitals in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

I miss him so much already and am truly grateful that God allowed me to rescue him and share his life with me. Thank you for saving me Monsoor and for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. See you on the other side brother. I love you with all my heart Monsoor. Now you can go and play with Archon & Philo in Heaven.

Man I miss you so much dude.

Fair winds, following seas and Godspeed as you head home to Heaven.

I love you Monsoor!!!!!

Love, Daddy

Brooklyn, NY - Poodle (Miniature)/Schnauzer (Miniature) Mix. Meet TIPPY a Dog for Adoption.

TIPPY—SCHNOODLE—MALE—1 YEAR

Tippy was surrendered to us from a very warm loving family of empty nesters that were given the dog as a gift last year for Christmas.  They really didn’t want a dog as they had plans to begin to travel extensively but because their son had bought it for them, they accepted Tippy and treated him like a king for the past year until they could find the right shelter to bring him to where they felt Tippy would be well taken care of and treated like a king.  Tippy is a very sweet dog who is totally housebroken and crate trained.  Tippy is a hybrid snoodle—a schnauzer-poodle mix that is hypoallergenic.

Tippy is neutered, dewormed, treated to prevent fleas & ticks and is up to date with all his vaccinations.  His adoption fee is $300 and he'll get a free basic exam at one of our participating vet's offices. If you'd like to adopt Tippy, please email us at: charles@charleshendersonanimalrescue.org

Charles Henderson Animal Rescue is open every day from 12pm to 7pm. Tippy is an awesome & young dog.  Tippy deserves & will have nothing short of the best quality of life from this point on.  Tippy is a great doggie that needs a great owner. Will you be that family or person?

Brooklyn, NY - Dutch Shepherd Mix. Meet STACIA a Puppy for Adoption.

STACIA—DUTCH SHEPHERD—FEMALE—7 MONTHS

Stacia is a sweetheart of a dog that started her life in the Midwest.  Stacia was owned by a Marine veteran who was deployed and couldn’t find anyone to take care of Stacia while he was deployed downrange so he had no other choice but to take her to the shelter.  That’s where Charles Henderson Animal Rescue came into the picture.  We were contacted by this high kill shelter through our network and 48 hours later, Stacia had been transported from Colorado to Brooklyn, NY which is where she is now.  She is a little bit shy but has great drive to her.  She needs to be socialized a bit more and exposed to noises, sights & sounds.  She's a bit defensive when she sees strangers and in new circumstances but she isn't effected by external environmentals significantly.

Stacia is spayed, dewormed, treated to prevent fleas & ticks and is up to date with all her vaccinations.  Her adoption fee is $300 and she'll get a free basic exam at one of our participating vet's offices. If you'd like to adopt Stacia, please email us at: charles@charleshendersonanimalrescue.org

Charles Henderson Animal Rescue is open every day from 12pm to 7pm. Stacia is an awesome & young lady that's been thru alot in her first year of life.  That's all changed now and she will have nothing but the best quality of life from this point on.  Stacia is a great doggie that needs a great owner. Will you be that family or person?

Brooklyn, NY - American Staffordshire Terrier/Labrador Retriever Mix. Meet OYA a Dog for Adoption.

OYA—PITBULL—FEMALE—3 YEARS

Oya is in a foster situation with a really wonderful family right now.  Oya is being fostered by this great family from another animal rescue and the people that are fostering her love her but the husband has cancer and can no longer take care of Oya and the animal rescue she came from won’t take her back so they called us and we agreed to do a courtesy posting of  Oya.  Oya is a very nice dog and would be a great addition to any household or family.

Oya is a sweet, energetic 6 yr. old pit mix looking for a new foster or forever home, as my husband has cancer and we are stretched to the limit. Oya was brought to Brooklyn
Animal Care and Control by a family facing eviction and within weeks was scheduled to be euthanized, so we took her in as a foster. She is friendly and curious, loves walks and runs, enjoys trying new treats and toys, and curls up in a cozy ball for naps. Oya gets along well with children, but would do best in a home with no other pets. We will provide a generous donation to anyone who can be of help.

Oya is spayed, dewormed, treated to prevent fleas & ticks and is up to date with all her vaccinations.  If you'd like to adopt Oya, please email us at: charles@charleshendersonanimalrescue.org

Brooklyn, NY - American Staffordshire Terrier Mix. Meet NICOLE a Dog for Adoption.

NICOLE—BLUENOSE PITBULL—FEMALE—2 YEARS

Nicole is a super sweet and super strong blue nose pitbull that has had a very tumultuous start to her life.  She is totally housebroken and crate trained but we are not recommending Nicole live with any other dogs, cats or small children nor is she a candidate to take to the dog park.  She is perfectly fine walking down the street and passes dogs with no problem and she does not go looking for trouble but if a dog looks to give her a hard time, she doesn’t back down from bullies.  She is not a bully but she is not intimated by bullies at all whatsoever.  She is a very quiet dog and has not had 1 accident in her crate the entire time she has been with us which is just going over 3 weeks straight-21 days.  She is a loving dog and gives eye contact and looks for approval and guidance.  Nicole just needs the right owner and she will be a great addition to someone’s life.

Nicole is spayed, dewormed, treated to prevent fleas & ticks and is up to date with all her vaccinations.  Her adoption fee is $200 and she'll get a free basic exam at one of our participating vet's offices. Kyle is a 4 month old purebred Belgian Malinois that was surrendered to the rescue because the man that purchased him also had a young boxer and he just couldn’t handle the 2 dogs together at the same time.  Kyle is super active, super smart, super sensitive and has super prey drive.  Kyle does get along with other dogs and cats and is happy go luck with people.  Kyle is not housebroken yet but he is crate trained and has been quick study regarding his housebreaking habits.

Kyle is neutered, dewormed, treated to prevent fleas & ticks and is up to date with all his vaccinations.  His adoption fee is $300 and he'll get a free basic exam at one of our participating vet's offices. If you'd like to adopt Kyle, please email us at: charles@charleshendersonanimalrescue.org

K-MAN--PITBULL/LAB MIX--FEMALE--3 YEARS

COURTESY POSTING: received a phone call about a pit/mix that was left tied to a firehouse in Coney Island while the FDNY men were out on a call.  When they returned to the firehouse, they discovered that a dog had been left tied up and abandoned outside the firehouse.  The guys took the dog in, got her shots & spayed and called Charles Henderson Animal Rescue to see if we could help.  When they called, Charles Henderson Animal Rescue was completely full and couldn’t take in anymore dogs but we wanted to help these Good Samaritan FDNY firefighters that rescued this beautiful babygirl.  We wanted to help them find her a good home so we agreed to do a courtesy post for the great guys at the Coney Island firehouse for saving this sweet little babygirl.  The guys at the firehouse love her and tell me she is a very good & easy going dog with a sweet temperament.  If you are interested in adopting this dog, K-Man, please contact either Erik Knudsen 917-940-0481 or Giancarlo Andriano 917-723-3760.  She is living at the firehouse until they find her a great forever home.
