MY THERAPY DOG MONSOOR DIED TODAY

It is with immense grief and overwhelming sadness as tears run uncontrollably down my face that I am writing to announce the passing just now at 1904 hours on Sunday, April 21 of Monsoor, my amazing and very special dog, a Cane Corso/Italia...n Mastiff. I named Monsoor after Navy SEAL who was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for sacrificing his life to save his fellow SEAL team brothers' lives in Iraq by jumping on top of a live grenade.

Monsoor was rescued from being put to sleep 7 years ago in October, 2006. He was very badly beaten and cruelly & inhumanely abused. When I first took him in, he attacked me 4-5 times pretty bad in the first few weeks after I adopted him but we quickly put that behind us as Monsoor learned that he could trust me and that all I was ever gonna do was love him to death.

Monsoor was trained up and became a certified therapy dog with DELTA Society, now Pet Partners and moved on to become a gentle giant at 150 lbs. He turned into an angel. I never saw the aggressive side of Monsoor again and he loved being a therapy dog and being a big mush. He was a big baby and a teddy bear who loved to cuddle. Monsoor & I would go visit kids in schools, patients in the hospital. homeless people at homeless shelters, the Hurricane Sandy survivors that were displaced and living at the Armory in Park Slope as well as visiting with the veterans at the VA Hospitals in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

I miss him so much already and am truly grateful that God allowed me to rescue him and share his life with me. Thank you for saving me Monsoor and for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. See you on the other side brother. I love you with all my heart Monsoor. Now you can go and play with Archon & Philo in Heaven.

Man I miss you so much dude.

Fair winds, following seas and Godspeed as you head home to Heaven.

I love you Monsoor!!!!!

Love, Daddy
