Adopt a Pet :: SOPHIE - Brooklyn, NY - Chihuahua

Adopt a Pet :: SOPHIE - Brooklyn, NY - Chihuahua

SOPHIE---CHIHUAHUA---FEMALE---7 YRS

Sophie was born on 7/7/05, and is a 7 year old Brindle, short haired Chihuahua who is a middle aged independent and lovable mother of two. She has always had a skiddish personality. She’s very clever and could easily be trained. She is very fit and a fast runner. Her teeth need work. She is currently not spayed but will be before she is adopted. She is trained to use a wee-wee pad. She has a very cute twisted tail and loves to borough into a pile of blankets to sleep.  She plays a funny game when asking for attention. Standing with her front paw in the air she’ll wag her tail and ask to come over. When you call her, she continues to stand there until you finally get up. Then she runs off to the bedroom to hide in her bed, under the blankets where you must retrieve her. She definitely likes the chase.  She asks for attention in literal ways. She will rise up on her hind quarters and wave her paws in the air asking you to pet her. If you are lying with her, she’ll touch your face with her paw repeatedly until you scratch her chest. She loves being scratched on her chest. She does not like anyone to stroke her ears.
She was never socialized with other dogs. I’m not sure how she would be trained as her reaction to other dogs is strong and negative. She barks a lot. I don’t think she would bite, but I don’t know for sure. I’ve only seen her snap at people defensively. She has never attacked another person or animal.
Sophie is a great mother. I watched her give birth to Tiger and Lola. I saw the look on her face after she licked them clean and have seen her be with them all her life. She is love. It has become incredibly difficult for me to care for her, the father of her pups and her two pups. It pains me beyond belief to have them adopted, but I also know she needs a higher quality of life than I can provide. If I had a wish about her adoption, it would be that she stay with Lola and Tiger. I think she would survive just fine without them. However, she still has maternal instincts towards the two.

Sophie will be spayed, dewormed, treated to prevent fleas & ticks and is up to date with all her vaccinations.  Her adoption fee is $300 and she'll get a free basic exam at one of our participating vet's offices. If you'd like to adopt Sophie, please email us at: charles@charleshendersonanimalrescue.org

Charles Henderson Animal Rescue is open every day from 12pm to 7pm. Sophie is an awesome and great dog that needs a great owner. Will you be that family or person?
